Hello, this is Goksicbangul,
a specialty shop for Korean desserts.

Today, I'd like to introduce a Korean dessert
that may be unfamiliar to some
but is incredibly popular at our store:
Gotgam Danji

What is Gotgam Danji?
Gotgam Danji is a premium Korean handmade dessert
made by filling high-quality dried persimmons
with finely chopped yuzu-cheong, walnut gangjeong, and jujube.

The subtle sweetness of persimmons,
the tanginess of yuzu,
and the nuttiness of walnuts blend well,
making it perfect with tea or coffee.
It's the pinnacle of handmade desserts,
as every ingredient is prepared by hand.😂
The Dedicated Production Process
Walnut gangjeong, a significant component of Gotgam Danji,
is made first and chopped.
A large amount of julienned jujube is also used.
Since machine-sliced jujube is too thin,
it doesn’t have a good texture,
so we pit and slice them by hand.
The most crucial part is
preparing the filling and then
stuffing it into well dried persimmons.
The stem is removed,
and the filling is carefully stuffed through a small hole
without tearing the persimmons.
Imagine how delicate this process is! 🥹🥹
If the filling isn’t packed tightly,
it won’t slice neatly later,
so it’s essential to fill to the standard weight!

What Does Gotgam Danji Taste Like?
Personally,
I’m not a big fan of dried persimmons or jujube.
However, the first time I tried Gotgam Danji,
I was amazed by this unique dessert.

My curiosity about the ingredients led me to learn how to make it,
and now I highly recommend it to others.
Many who try it also want to share it with others,
asking for gift package that include Gotgam Danji!

The taste can be described
as a harmony of the tangy yuzu,
nutty walnut gangjeong,
and the subtle sweetness of persimmons and jujube.
The flavors of yuzu-cheong and walnuts,
which are generally well-liked, stand out first,
with a crispy and refreshing texture.
The charm of Korean desserts
lies in their simplicity and natural ingredients,
making them not overly sweet and easy to digest,
even for the elderly.

Some customers worry about the sweetness,
but we strive to reduce sugar as much as possible for a subtle taste,
so there’s no need to worry!

No. 1 Gift for Formal Meetings
Gotgam Danji sets are particularly popular among female customers.
Their round shape makes them visually appealing and ideal
for formal meetings or first introductions.

We usually use round bamboo baskets or hexagonal boxes for the sets,
but we prefer hexagonal boxes with luxurious patterns
(my personal preference😝😝).

Customer reviews often highlight
the elegance of the Bojagi wrapping(Korean traditional giftwrap),
making it a favorite gift among recipients.
Of course, the luxurious and flavorful taste is a given.

How to Enjoy Gotgam Danji the Best Way
Important!
The best way to enjoy Gotgam Danji is
by freezing it

Many people eat it with a spoon
or without freezing it,
which defeats the purpose of the filling😭😭😭
We include instructions inside the cloth wrapping,
with the delivery packaging,
and even a separate printed note,

yet many still eat it without freezing.🤣
(Of course, it’s still delicious that way... but!)

Originally a frozen snack,
it should be frozen
for at least 30 minutes to an hour,
then sliced into 4-8 pieces.
It doesn’t slice well if not frozen!
Due to the large chunks of filling,
it remains easy to slice and eat
even after long-term freezing.
